PRINCETON, N.J. - After receiving the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the 2000 NCAA women's lacrosse tournament, the Tigers now know their next challenge. Princeton will square off with No. 7 Duke on Sunday, May 14, in the Class of 1952 Stadium at 1 p.m.
The Blue Devils had six players score at least one goal as they defeated No. 10 Dartmouth 7-6 Thursday at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with Princeton claiming an 11-10 victory over the then second-ranked Blue Devils in the Tigers' home opener on March 15. The win was the first of 11 straight victories for the Tigers--the fourth longest win streak in the program's history.
Princeton is making its 10th overall appearance in the NCAA tournament and eighth trip in the last nine years. The Tigers own an 11-8 record in nine previous tournament appearances dating back to 1983. Princeton made it to three consecutive championship games from 1993-95, while winning the title in 1994 with a 10-7 win over Maryland. The Blue Devils are making their third consecutive and third overall trip to the tournament after beginning women's lacrosse in 1996. Virginia eliminated Duke from the 1999 NCAA tournament in the Final Four.

History lesson - This will be the fourth meeting between Duke and Princeton--the first in the NCAA tournament--with the Tigers holding a 2-1 advantage in the series.
The whammy - In 15 of its 19 NCAA tournament games, Princeton has played a team it has previously faced during the regular season. Eleven of those postseason games have produced the same outcome as the regular-season meetings. The Tigers defeated Duke 11-10 in the home opener this season.
Short ride to the top - Duke is making its third straight trip to the NCAA tournamentsince the Blue Devils began women's lacrosse in 1996.
More history - This is the second consecutive season Princeton received one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye of the NCAA tournament.
Oh captain, my captain - Co-captain Hilary Maddox, who scored 13 points in each of her first three seasons, has 19 goals and two assists this season and has scored at least two goals in five of the last seven games.

In case you missed it - Princeton finished the regular season with a 13-3 record overall--its first 13-win season since 1996--and a 6-1 league mark. All three losses came to teams that were selected for the NCAA tournament.
Poll sitting - Despite being ranked ninth in the preseason poll, Princeton has been ranked No. 2 five of the last six weeks.
In the rankings - Duke has been ranked no lower than eighth this year and spent most of the season in the top four. Going into the post-season the Blue Devils are ranked No. 7. All four ACC programs remain among the Top 10, with Maryland holding down the top spot for the 10th straight week.
Home sweet home - Princeton is 6-0 this season in the Class of 1952 Stadium and has won eight of the last nine on home turf.
Big numbers - The Blue Devils are 14 goals shy of setting a school record for goals in a season. The current season high of 210 goals was set in 1999.
I'm honored, part 1 - Princeton freshman Whitney Miller was named the 2000 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. She led the Class of 2003, and was fifth overall, in scoring with 27 points. Twelve of her 18 goals game against Ivy competition.
I'm honored, part 2 - Duke head coach Kerstin Kimel was honored as the Co-ACC Coach of the Year for 2000. Kimel owns a 44-37 record in five seasons at the helm of the Blue Devils and a 48-45 mark overall.
I'm honored, part 3 - Nine Tigers received All-Ivy honors this season, including four first-teamers and three on second team. Sophomore Lauren Simone and junior Julie Shaner were unanimous first-team selections.
Hit me with your best shot- Tiger goalie Laura Field has carved out a 7.88 goals-against average this season, which ranks fourteenth nationally.
Field of saves - Laura Field's 424 career saves ranks fifth all-time at Princeton. She needs only 10 saves to move into fourth place, surpassing Leila N. Saddic, who tallied 433 saves from 1990-92.
Princeton in the tournament - Princeton owns an 11-8 tournament record in nine appearances dating back to 1983. The Tigers made it to three consecutive championship games, winning the national title in 1994 with a 10-7 win over Maryland.
Goal oriented - The Tigers' 199 goals are the fifth-highest season total in Princeton history. The Tigers are four short of tying the 1993 squad which tallied 203 goals.
Repeat performance? - Kim Smith led the Tigers with five goals in the 11-10 win over Duke earlier this season.
How did we get here? - Six different Blue Devils scored at least one goal as No. 7 Duke defeated No. 10 Dartmouth 7-6 on Thursday at Koskinen Stadium.
