PRINCETON, N.J. - For the second consecutive year, the women's lacrosse team received a first-round bye in the NCAA women's lacrosse tournament and will host Sunday's quarterfinal game. As the No. 2 seed this year, the Tigers are making their 10th tournament appearance overall and the eighth in the last nine years.
Princeton will face the winner of the Duke-Dartmouth first-round game, which is Thursday, May 11, in Durham, N.C. The quarterfinal game will be Sunday, May 14, at 1 p.m. in the Class of 1952 Stadium.
"We would love to have another shot at Dartmouth," head coach Chris Sailer said. "Either way, it is going to be a very tough quarterfinal."
Whichever team makes the trip to Old Nassau on Sunday, it will be a familiar foe. The Tigers upset then-No. 2 Duke 11-10 in the first home game of the season on March 15. Dartmouth snapped Princeton's 11-game win streak with a 16-13 overtime victory on April 19, in Princeton Stadium.
The Tigers finished the regular season with a 13-3 overall record and a 6-1 mark in league play. All three losses came to teams that will be participating in this year's national tournament. Despite being ranked ninth in the preseason poll, Princeton has been ranked No. 2 five of the last six weeks.
