Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton University women's lacrosse team is set to play a fall exhibition against Team USA this Saturday, Oct. 20 at Class of 1952 Stadium. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
Princeton finished last season with an overall record of 14-5 and an Ivy League mark of 6-1. The Tigers won their fifth Ivy League Championship en route to their 11th NCAA tournament appearance. Princeton advanced to the Final Four for the eighth time in program history, falling in the national semifinal to eventual champion Maryland.
Team USA defeated Australia 14-8 to win its fourth consecutive World Cup title earlier this year. Team USA has now won 12 straight World Cup competitions and is undefeated in international competition since the second game of the 1997 World Cup. The national team trailed for only 11:04 the entire tournament and kept opponents scoreless for 101:20, outscoring the opposition by an average of 12 goals per game.
Head coach Chris Sailer returns five of her top six scorers from a year ago, including three All-America selections. Rachel Becker (first-team), Lauren Simone (second-team) and Kim Smith (third-team) were also first-team All-Ivy honorees.
The Tigers officially open their season on Sunday, March 3 when they host Final Four participant Georgetown in a 1:00 p.m. showdown.
