Annapolis, Md. - A 28-point second quarter explosion lifted Navy to a 34-6 victory over Princeton in sprint football action on Friday night at Rip Miller Field. The Tigers fall to 0-5 while Navy improves to 4-1 with the victory.
Navy quarterback Chris Ashinhurst capped off a 5-play drive with a 4-yard touchdown run to put the Midshipmen on the scoreboard only minutes into the second quarter. Princeton found itself down 14-0 less than two minutes later when Ashinhurst capitalized on a Tiger turnover with a 39-yard scoring strike to Allen Matthews.
Rikki Racela reached paydirt with a one-yard run in the fourth quarter to give him two touchdowns on the year. No other Tiger has more than one touchdown this season. Christian Gomez once again led all rushers with 72 yards on 27 carries. Quarterback Dennis Bakke completed six of 14 passes for 112 yards. Five of Bakke's six completions went to Adam Farren who ended the day with 106 yards receiving.
Princeton heads into its bye week with one game remaining on the schedule. The Tigers host Pennsylvania at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.
