College Park, Md. - Freshman Adrian Melville found the back of Maryland's goal two times but it wasn't enough for Princeton at Ludwig Field in College Park, Md. tonight. The Terrapins came away with a 5-2 victory, handing Princeton its first loss of the season.
Maryland freshman Wes Kirk scored at 16:49 to put the Terps up 1-0. After Maryland scored again in the 48th minute, Melville answered with a header set up by Matt Behncke and Ryan Rich. The Terrapins went on the score three unanswered goals before Melville connected on his fifth goal of the season at 86:49.
Junior goalie Jason White finished with five saves. Prior to tonight's game, White had only allowed one goal in Princeton's first five games. The Tigers manages four shots on goal, three of which came off Melville's foot.
The Tigers fall to 3-1-2 on the year while Maryland improves to 4-3-1. Princeton travels to Harvard on Saturday, Oct. 6 for a noon contest with the Crimson. Princeton is 2-0-1 in conference action this year.
