One-Timers
I'm Honored - Freshman Neil Stevenson-Moore was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week after scoring two goals, including the game-winner, and adding an assist in Princeton's 5-4 victory over Vermont Saturday.
Homebodies - Tuesday's game against Yale will be Princeton's third consecutive game at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers are in the midst of a schedule that includes six of seven games at home. After traveling to New Haven on Saturday, Princeton will host Northeastern, Colgate and Cornell. Old Friends - Princeton has played Yale more than any other team, and the Bulldogs hold a 110-92-9 edge is a series that began in 1901. The Tigers' 92 victories are the most against any opponent.
Recent History - Yale has defeated Princeton only once in the last 11 meetings, as Princeton holds an 8-1-2 advantage.
Give Me Five - Princeton has scored five goals in six of the last 11 meetings with the Yale - four 5-2 victories and two 5-5 ties.
Guest of Honor - Goalie Dave Stathos has been the game's No. 1 star the past two years at Yale's Ingalls Rink. Stathos stopped 31 shots in Princeton's 3-1 victory last year and made 33 saves in a 2-1 win in 1999-2000.
My First - In six career games against Yale, David Del Monte has only one point, the first goal of his collegiate career in Princeton's 5-2 home win in 1998-99.
Power Outage - Brad Parsons, who was injured in the first game of the season at Niagara, has missed the last five games. The team's top returning scorer, Parsons also is the most productive Tiger against Yale, recording two goals and three assists in his career.
Where's the Power Supply - Besides Brad Parsons, captain David Schneider is the only other Tiger to score more than one career point against Yale (2g, 1a).
'W' Column - Princeton won its first game of the season, defeating Vermont 5-4 Saturday on freshman Neil Stevenson-Moore's second goal of the game at 12:52 of the third period.
Three's Company - Three players scored their first collegiate goals against Vermont - freshman Neil Stevenson-Moore (2 goals), freshman James Fitzpatrick and junior Trevor Beaney, who was moved from defense to forward.
Scoring Touch - Princeton had gone seven games without scoring more than two goals until notching five against Vermont.
Class System - The senior and freshman classes each have accounted for 11 points this year, while juniors have notched seven points and sophomores five. Freshmen, however, lead the goal-scoring category with five. Juniors have accounted for four goals and sophomores and seniors two apiece.
Increased Workload - Goalie Dave Stathos has stopped at least 15 shots in three of the last four periods that he has played. In eight of his last nine games, Stathos has made at least 30 saves.
The Puck Stops Here - Dave Stathos and the Princeton record book: No. 1 career save percentage (.901) ... No. 2 career goals-against average (3.02) - however, the best average of any Princeton goalie with more than 35 career games ... No. 4 career saves (1,928), No. 3 is Edward Tilghman (1967-70), 2,043 saves ... No. 3 minutes played (4,190:23), No. 2 is James Konte (1992-96), 5,414 minutes.
'C' What I See - Captain David Schneider is tied for third all-time in goals scored by a defenseman with 15. Also scoring 15 goals was John Bryan (1949-52), while Steve Shirreffs (1995-99) is No. 2 on the list with 16 career goals.
Brad Parsons Project - Brad Parsons is the only Tiger with more than 15 career goals, he has 28.
Top This - Hockey alumnus Michael Spence '66, former dean of the Stanford graduate school of business, received the 2001 Nobel Prize in economics last month.
Sibling Rivalry - There are two brother-sister hockey acts at Princeton this season. Dave Bennett's sister Briana is a freshman forward on the women's team, and Matt Maglione's sister Katherine is a freshman blueliner.
Up Close - Neil Stevenson-Moore, the ECAC Rookie of the Week after a three-point performance in the Tigers' 5-4 victory over Vermont, is a 6' 2", 225-pound freshman forward who scored his first collegiate points against the Catamounts, including the game-winning goal at 12:52 of the third period. He also scored Princeton's first goal of the game and assisted on freshman James Fitzpatrick's goal. An assistant captain for the Burnaby Bulldogs last year, Stevenson-Moore was a league all-star after scoring 87 points (33 goals, 54 assists) in 60 games. He also was named most sportsmanlike while with the Bulldogs but leads Princeton with 17 penalty minutes.
