Bethlehem, Pa. - Mike Nugent netted Princeton's game-winning goal past a diving Ryan Grzeszczak at 78:20 lifting the Tigers past Lehigh 2-1 on Tuesday night in Bethlehem, Pa. Princeton improves its season mark to 9-2-5 and dropped Lehigh to 11-5 on the year.
Lehigh took the early lead on Steve Fisher's sixth goal of the season at 22:30 and led 1-0 at the intermission. Princeton answered in the 56th minute when a pair of seniors, Benji Diggs and Lucas Moskowitz, hooked up to tie the score at 1-1. Diggs scored off a Moskowitz cross for his first goal of the year, it was Moskowitz's second assist in 2001.
Nugent, who leads the Ivy League in shots, goals and points, scored his 12th goal on his 75th shot to move him to 28 points on the season. Jason White recorded two saves in the win as the Princeton defense held Lehigh to seven total shots. The Tigers finished the game with 15 shots and nine corner kicks opposed to Lehigh's one.
Princeton moved into the top-25 in both the www.soccer.com media poll and the NSCAA coaches poll this week. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 16 in the media poll and No. 22 in the coaches poll. Princeton wraps up its regular season with a conference match up against Yale on Saturday afternoon at Lourie-Love Field. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
