Princeton, N.J. - Princeton, who knocked off the No. 10-ranked Cornell Big Red 4-1 on Friday night, was not able to sweep the weekend series, as Colgate defeated the Tigers 7-3. Parsons scored two goals for the second-consecutive game, however, the Red Raiders' aggressive offense and defensive zone turnovers spelled doom for Princeton on Saturday night.
Parsons opened the scoring at 6:05 of the first period when he scored a power-play goal off a nice pass from Kirk Lamb. It was Parsons' 11th goal of the season, and it appeared as if the positive experience against Cornell last night would help the Tigers sweeps there first weekend series of the year.
Colgate believed differently, however, as the Red Raiders scored on the power play just to minutes later to even the score at 1-1. David Schneider scored his sixth goal of the season at 11:11 of the first period, but Colgate's Sean Nolan scored his 20th goal two minutes later to send the teams their respective dressing rooms tied 2-2 at the end of the first period. Colgate busted the game wide-open by scoring the game's next five goals to help it win just for the eighth time this season.
A late power-play marker by Parsons at 19:59 did little to soften the Tigers' frustration, as their record sank to 2-8-2 for games played on Saturday. Further, Princeton is 1-5-2 in games following a win, and the Tigers 1-6-2 when playing the second of back-to-back games this season.
Princeton plays at Rensselaer and Union next Friday and Saturday. Starting times for both games are 7 p.m., and the games will be broadcast live at www.GoPrincetonTigers.com.
