Princeton Women's Lacrosse Team Set to Kick Off 2001 Campaign

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's lacrosse team opens its 2001 season against Rutgers, who enters the contest ranked 20th in the country, on Wednesday Mar. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Class of 1952 Stadium in Princeton, N.J.
The Tigers lost the NCAA championship game against Maryland last year, and have come into this season with the goal of taking home college lacrosse's national championship this season. The Tigers return 12 of their top 13 scorers from last season, and highly touted freshman Meghan McInnes will start the season in goal.
"We were sound in our draw controls, winning 50/50 balls, creating turnovers in our defensive transition and mixing up our defenses, " comments head coach Chris Sailer about the team's performance in scrimmages at the Georgetown Tournament last weekend..
According to the preseason rankings, Princeton will play 11 of the top-20 ranked teams in the country this season:
1. Maryland (4/25) in College Park, Md. 3. Georgetown (5/5) in Washington, D.C. 4. Duke (3/21) in Durham, N.C. 6. Loyola (3/11) in Princeton, N.J. 7. Virginia (3/18) in Charlottesville, Va. 11. Dartmouth (4/21) in Hanover, N.H. 12. Delaware (4/4) in Newark, Del. 14. Penn State (3/24) in Princeton, N.J. 15. Cornell (3/31) in Ithaca, N.Y. 16. Yale (4/7) in New Haven, Conn. 20. Rutgers (3/7) in Princeton, N.J.
