Rubber match - Cornell defeated Princeton 3-0 at Lynah Rink (Dec. 2), while the Tigers captured the rematch, 4-1 at Baker Rink (Feb. 9).
Series scorers -?Ryan Vesce (1g, 2a) and Stephen B?by (3a) led Cornell to the 3-0 victory in Ithaca, which was the first time in 118 consecutive regular-season ECAC games that Princeton was shutout. The Big Red converted two of three power-play opportunities and outshot the Tigers 31-20. Princeton defeated Cornell 4-1 at Baker Rink, as Brad Parsons scored two goals to earn the first star of the game. Senior captain Kirk Lamb tallied two assists, and goalie Dave Stathos made 29 saves. Good history - Princeton and Cornell have met on three different occasions in the ECAC playoffs. Cornell defeated Princeton 5-4 in the ECAC preliminary game in 1994 in Ithaca, N.Y. The second meeting was at the ECAC Final Five in Lake Placid in 1997 when the Tigers won 6-2. Princeton hosted its only ECAC first-round playoff series in 1998, when it defeated Cornell in a first-to-three-points series. The Tigers and Big Red skated to a 4-4 in the first game, and Princeton took the series with a 6-5 win on its way to the ECAC tournament championship.
Bad history - Princeton is 10-35-2 all-time at Lynah Rink, which was built in 1958. The Tigers won the first five games played at Lynah, but have managed just five wins since. In fact, Princeton has lost its last six games at Lynah, and the Tigers are 2-16-2 there since the 1981-82 season. Princeton's last back-to-back win at Cornell was in 1979-80 and 1980-81.
Down the stretch - Princeton was 3-0-2 in its last five regular-season games.
Stay out - Goalie Dave Stathos has yielded two or fewer goals in each of the last six games.
Stay out of the box - Of the four goals that Cornell has scored against Princeton this season, only one has come at even strength, while three were on the power play.
Black `n' blue line - Defenseman Neil McCann did not play in the 3-0 shutout at Cornell, and David Schneider left the game in the second period with an injury. Jason Dillow was used sparingly because of an injury, which caused freshman Steve Slaton to log an incredible amount of ice time during the final two periods.
Soup's on - Senior Shane Campbell has a goal in three of the last four games.
McCann can - Neil McCann's assist in the 4-1 win at Brown last Saturday was the first time that he has scored in the last nine games.
Mag wheels - Freshman defenseman Matt Maglione has scored a point in three of the last four games. During that stretch he has two goals and one assist, including the overtime game-winner in the 2-1 victory vs. Vermont (Feb. 24).
Captain Kirk - Captain Kirk Lamb has scored a point in 18 of the 24 games that he has played in this season. He is listed as probable for this weekend's series after sitting out the last two regular-season games due to injury.
Mr. March - Senior Chris Corrinet enters this weekend's series as Princeton's leading playoff scorer with four points (2g, 2a).
March madness - Shane Campbell (1g, 2a) and Ethan Doyle (2g, 1a) both have three career playoff points. David Del Monte has two career playoff goals, while Kirk Lamb has a goal and an assist. Brad Parsons has two points (1g, 1a), and Peter Zavodny (1a) and Dave Bennett (1g) each have one career playoff point.
Seeing red - Shane Campbell leads the Tigers with seven career points against Cornell (2g, 5a). Other top scorers against the Big Red are: Kirk Lamb (6a), Brad Parsons (2g, 3a), Chris Corrinet (3g, 1a), Josh Roberts (2g) and Ethan Doyle (2g).
Red worth seeing - Ryan Vesce and Stephen B?by each had three points in the 3-0 win at Lynah Rink on Dec. 2.
Parsons not parsimonious - Brad Parsons has scored a point in five of the last eight games that he has played in. During that stretch Parsons has six goals and two assists.
Still fresh - Freshmen have scored a point in each of Princeton's last five games: Matt Maglione has two goals and an assist, Chris Owen has three assists, Sharam Fouladgar-Mercer has a goal and Steve Slaton recorded one assist.
