Ithaca, N.Y. - Princeton won its second-consecutive Ivy League contest by winning 9-5 at No. 14-ranked Cornell on Saturday afternoon. Freshman goalie Meghan McInnes made 11 saves in the victory, and Charlotte Kenworthy scored three points (2g, 1a).
While Cornell scored the game's first goal at 28:55 of the first half, Princeton's Kenworthy, Rachel Becker and Whitney Miller scored the next three goals. Princeton led 4-3 at halftime after Kenworthy scored her second marker of the contest.
Cornell scored two of the next three goals, but Lauren Simone scored the game-winning goal off of a great feed from Julie Shaner at 15:18 of the second half. Freshman midfielder Theresa Sherry scored twice to pad the lead, and freshman Tara Hardiman scored a goal in her second-consecutive game to help Princeton win 9-5 at Cornell.
"The game was close in the second half, and I am happy that our team was able to take control and win the game, " said Coach Chris Sailer after Princeton's fifth consecutive win. The Tigers play at Delaware on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
