Maryland Outlasts Princeton 7-6 in Women's Lacrosse

College Park, Md. - No. 1 Maryland defeated No. 5 Princeton in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening, as All-American Jen Adams scored with 1:31 left in regulation to lift the Terrapins over Princeton 7-6. Kim Smith scored three goals, Lauren Simone scored two goals and Rachel Becker blanketed Adams all night. In fact, Adams only scored twice, once on a free-position shot. The Tigers turned the ball over 14 times, while Maryland only had five turnovers. Also, three of Maryland's seven goals came on free position shots, which highlights how close this game really was.

Freshman goalie Meghan McInnes made several huge saves, the most important being with 3:45 in regulation and Maryland up 6-5. Smith scored on Princeton's next possession, but Adams ruined the Tigers, fun with 1:31 left in regulation. McInnes did not have a chance on Adams' shot, which was hard and perfectly placed. The Tigers host Brown on Saturday at 3 p.m. This will be the final home game for seniors Julia Beaver (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Dayna Federici (Maple Glen, Pa.) and Julie Shaner (Gwynedd Valley, Pa.).
