Princeton, N.J. - Princeton defeated Brown 12-6 on Saturday, April 28, as Kim Smith (4g) and Julie Shaner (1g, 3a) each scored four points for the Tigers. This was Princeton's first win in three games, and the Tigers finish the season tied for the Ivy League lead. Unfortunately, Dartmouth, who also boasts 6-1 record in league play, receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, because the Big Green beat Princeton 13-5 on Saturday, April 21. Charlotte Kenworthy had three points (1g, 2a), Nina Carbone tallied two markers, Lauren Simone had two points (1g, 1a), Theresa Sherry had two goals and Julia Beaver made her first two collegiate saves as a reserve. Saturday's game was the final home game for Beaver, Dayna Federici and Julie Shaner. Kim Smith opened the scoring with a goal at 27:22 of the first half, and Brown's Meredith Goodell tied the game just two minutes later. The Tigers scored five of the next six goals to take a 6-2 halftime lead.
Princeton scored the first five goals of the second half to take a 11-2 lead, and the Bears scored four of the next six goals to make the final score 12-6.
Brown's Niki Caggiano was impressive in net, making 17 saves in defeat.
The Tigers play at Georgetown on Saturday, May 5 to conclude their regular season.
