Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton University women's lacrosse team will open the 2002 season by hosting Final Four participant Georgetown on Sunday, March 3. The Tigers, a Final Four team last season as well, face the other three semifinalists of a year ago during the season.
After a home contest against Lafayette on Wednesday, March 6, Princeton travels to Loyola, another final four team from a year ago, for a Sunday, March 10 match-up. The Tigers return to 1952 Stadium and play ACC foes Virginia and Duke on March 17 and March 20.
Princeton will defend its fifth Ivy League title when conference action gets underway at Columbia on Wednesday, March 27. The Tigers will look to avenge their only Ivy League loss in 2001 when they host Dartmouth on Saturday, April 20.
Defending National Champion Maryland comes to Princeton for the final home contest of the 2002 season. The Terrapins and Tigers will battle under the lights on Wednesday, April 24.
Princeton returns 10 starters and 20 letterwinners from a team that finished 14-5 a year ago. The Tigers are set to play 10 of 16 games at Class of 1952 Stadium.
"Once again, we are definitely excited about playing the top teams in the country," says coach Chris Sailer. "We are looking forward to some very good contests at 1952 Stadium in 2002."
