Columbia drops to 1-1.
"This is the most important part of our schedule," said Princeton head coach Beth Bozman. "Our performance tonight is very important to our ultimate success and I think that we stuck to our game plan."
Picketts opened the scoring at 21:09 when Princeton was awarded a penalty stroke and she was able to connect for her second goal of the season. She put the Tigers up 2-0 at 14:54 with her goal off of an assist from sophomore Claire Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y.). Junior Kristen Skorupski (Hatfield, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season with 33 seconds remaining in the half to give Princeton a 4-0 lead going into the intermission. The play started on a penalty corner when Friebe pushed the ball to junior Beckie Wood (Shamong, N.J.), who stopped it for freshman Natalie Martirosian (Richmond, Va.). Martirosian passed to Skorupski who was able to find the back of the cage for a 4-0 Tiger lead.
The second half scoring began and ended with Friebe. She tallied her second goal of the game at 33:14 after collecting the ball just inside the circle, working her way across the field and then firing a shot past Columbia goalkeeper Molly Starsia (Charlottesville, Va.).
