PRINCETON, N.J. - Goals by freshman Ashley Sennett (Albion, Maine), junior Ilvy Friebe (Bonn, Germany) and sophomore Cory Picketts (Marmora, N.J.) helped lead Princeton to a 3-1 win at Dartmouth this afternoon in a key Ivy League matchup. The Tigers remain undefeated at 5-0, including a 2-0 mark in league action. Dartmouth is now 3-1.
Princeton got on the board first when Sennett scored with 7:58 remaining in the first half to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Datrhmouth came out and evened the score at 1-1 after a goal by Lauren Welsh at 29:14. The Tigers responded less then four minutes later when Friebe scored the eventual game-winning goal at 25:20. Picketts added an insurance goal for the Orange and Black on a penalty corner at 15:43 to end the scoring as Princeton came away with the 3-1 win. Friebe and sophomore Claire Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y.) each picked up an assist on the final goal. Junior co-captain Kelly Baril (Peabody, Mass.) earned the win in goal for the Tigers.
Princeton, ranked No. 5 in the latest NFHCA poll, has a huge week coming up. It will travel to face No. 3 Maryland on Friday, Sept. 28 for the first meeting between these two teams since a 3-1 Terrapins win in the second round of last year's NCAA tournament ended the Tigers' season. The y will then return home to face defending national champion Old Dominion, ranked No. 2, on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m at Class of 1952 Stadium.
