Sprint Football Team Drops Season Opener To Cornell

Ithaca, N.Y. - Princeton's sprint football team dropped its season opener to Cornell at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, N.Y. today. The Tigers racked up 319 yards of offense as opposed to Cornell's 164, however, the Big Red came away with a 27-6 win.
The game got off to a bad start for Princeton when Cornell's Eric Eisenhart recovered a Tiger fumble on the kickoff. Cornell went up 7-0 on Dean Coccaro's touchdown run and led 13-0 at the half. After a 14-point third quarter, the Big Red led 27-0. Princeton got on the board with 3:28 left on the game clock. L.T. Lawler hit Matt Hall for a 26-yard touchdown strike to wrap up the game's scoring.
Princeton was hampered by turnovers, losing three of eight fumbles and two interceptions. The Tigers did record 16 first downs to Cornell's six and attempted 71 offensive plays while Cornell attempted 47.
The Tigers, 0-1, next play on Friday, Oct. 5 against Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, Pa. Game time is set at 7:30 p.m.
