Friebe Leads Field Hockey Over Brown

Ilvy Friebe scored four goals to help lead the 16th ranked Princeton Field Hockey team past Brown 9-1. The win improved the Tigers' record to 7-5 and 4-0 in the Ivy League. Claire Miller and Natalie Martirosian each added two goals for Princeton. It was Princeton's third straight win over the Bears.
Princeton opened the scoring at 4:27 when Friebe tallied the games' first goal after picking up a loose ball in the circle. Miller then scored just over four minutes later to give the Tigers a two-goal lead. Miller found a loose ball following a saved shot by Rachael Becker.
The Tigers continued their strong play, adding additional goals by Friebe and Martirosian in the first period. Princeton came out strong in the second period, adding five goals en route to the victory. Miller scored just 54 seconds into the half off of a rebound on a shot by Becker. Friebe added her third goal of the game less than three minutes later on a pass from Martirosian.
The Tigers added three more goals in a five minutes stretch to seal the win. The goals came from Martirosian, Friebe and Hilary Schmidt. Brown added a goal late on a shot by Molly Carleton.
Kelly Baril and Zehra Nizami split time in goal for the Tigers, earning the win.
The Tigers, 7-5, return to Ivy League action this week, hosting Harvard on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., in a game played at the Class of 1952 Stadium.
