Field Hockey Falls To No. 1 Old Dominion 3-2

Becky Loy scored on a penalty corner with 9:37 remaining in the second period to lift Old Dominion past Princeton 3-2 on Friday evening in Norfolk, Va. Princeton goals were scored by Natalie Martirosian and Ilvy Friebe.
Princeton opened the scoring 17 seconds into the game when Martirosian scored her ninth goal of the season, and fifth in the last four games. Friebe assisted on the goal. Old Dominion answered back 1:40 later when Tiffany Snow scored on a penalty stroke.
The Lady Monarchs went ahead 2-1 at the 14:26 mark when Angie Loy scored following a penalty corner. Snow assisted on the goal.
Princeton evened the score at two with four minutes remaining in the first period. Ashley Sennett set up Friebe who scored her team-leading 22nd goal of the year.
The two teams battled through the second half with princeton outshooting ODU 10-5. The Lady monarchs broke the stalemate with 9:37 remaining when Becky Loy put a loose ball past Kelly Baril.
Baril made 11 saves in the loss while ODU goalkeeper Marybeth Freeman stopped 11 shots for the win.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday afternoon when they face No. 8 North Carolina in a neutral site game played at ODU at 1:00 p.m.
