One-Timers
Princeton vs. Cornell - Princeton and Cornell first met on March 2, 1901 (a 4-2) Big Red win. Cornell leads the all-time series 65-42-7 after picking up a 4-0 win at Hobey Baker Rink back on Dec. 1. Princeton will be looking for its first win at Lynah Rink since a 6-3 decision during the 1994-95 season. The Tigers are 0-8 in Ithaca since that win.
Princeton vs. Colgate - Princeton earned a 2-1 win over Colgate on Nov. 30 and will be looking for its first outright season sweep of the Raiders since 1996-97. Colgate leads the all-time series 38-34-4, including a 20-10-1 mark at Starr Rink.
Streaking - Both Colgate and Cornell swept their opponents last weekend. The Big Red is in the midst of a six-game tear, while the Raiders are 4-0-1 in their last five outings
Opening Act - Princeton is 5-4 in the first of back-to-back games this season, but 1-8 in the second game. The Tigers have yet to win consecutive games.
Leader Board - David Del Monte leads Princeton in goals (8), assists (10), points (18) and is tied for the team lead in penalty minutes (32, with Neil McCann).
More Leader Board - George Parros scored Princeton's lone goal in the loss vs, Clarkson. A 1999 draft choice of the Los Angeles Kings, Parros is second on the team in scoring with 15 points (6g, 9a)
Del Monte Can - David Del Monte scored two goals and added an assist in Princeton' 5-2 win vs. St. Lawrence. His first goal was a shorthanded tally, the Tigers' first of the season, while his second goal of the night was the eventual game-winner. He completed a four-point weekend with an assist on George Parros' goal against Clarkson.
Spread The Wealth - Princeton's goal scoring has been spread fairly evenly throughout the classes - seniors (13), juniors (12), freshmen (9) and sophomores (7). A total of 15 players have scored a goal this season, while 18 have at least one point.
Power Outage - The Tigers are in the midst of a 0-for-14 power play drought. They have not scored a power play goal since Brad Parsons connected on Princeton's first power play opportunity of the game in a 2-1 loss at Bowling Green.
One, The Loneliest Number - Princeton has scored no more than one power-play goal in a game this season. The Tigers have six man-advantage goals, each scored by a different player.
Terrible Two's - Princeton has scored more than two goals just four times this year, in a 5-2 win over St. Lawrence, a 5-4 win vs. Vermont, a 4-2 win at Rensselaer and a 4-2 win at Bowling Green. The Tigers have scored two or fewer goals in the other 17 games (3-13). Just Shoot - Princeton has outshot three opponents in 21 games this year and was victorious on all three occasions. The Tigers are 4-2 when they register at least 30 shots.
What You Will "C" - Captain David Schneider returned to the lineup this past weekend after missing six games with a fractured foot and immediately energized the Princeton offense, assisting on David Del Monte's shorthanded goal 1:05 into the first period of the 5-2 win vs. St. Lawrence. He also assisted on George Parros' goal against Clarkson. Schneider's 16 career goals ties him for second most (Steve Sherrifs, 1995-99) in Princeton history among defensemen.
Trading Places - Junior Trevor Beaney spent his first two year at Princeton trying to stop goals. After being switched from defenseman to forward this season, he is trying to score them. Beaney did not have a goal in the first 54 games of his career, but has six points (4g, 2a) this season to surpass the five points (0g, 5a) he had registered as a freshman and sophomore.
Seeing Red - Cornell swept last weekend's games vs. Harvard (6-3) and Brown (2-0) to open up a five-point lead in the ECAC standings. The Big Red is ranked for the 13th straight week, occupying the No. 8 spot in both the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll and the USCHO.com Poll of Feb. 4.
Double Trouble - Senior Matt Underhill and freshman Dave Leneveu comprise the top goaltending tandem in the ECAC this season. The pair have the top 2 spots in goals-against average (1.83 and 1.45 respectively).
The Puck Stops Here - Dave Stathos stopped 52 of 57 shots last weekend to continue his run at the Princeton record books. He is No. 1 in career save percentage (.905), No. 3 in goals-against average (2.95), No. 3 in saves (2,284 - just 11 short of No. 2 James Konte's 2,295 saves from 1992-96) and No. 3 in minutes played (4,893)
Keep It Close - Despite a 7-14 record, Princeton has played well in one-goal games, collecting a 4-3 mark.
Thirty-Something - Only four Princeton players have more than 30 career points, Brad Parsons (60), David Schneider (40), David Del Monte (39) and George Parros (38).
