Princeton, N.J. - Sharing is nice and so are Ivy League championships; but after sharing last season's crown with Dartmouth, Princeton wants one all its own. This Saturday at Providence, Princeton can get its very own title with a win over the Brown Bears.
The Tigers enter Saturday as the No. 1 team in the country with the nation's longest current winning streak standing at 14 games. Princeton is 14-1 overall and is fresh off a win over defending national champion Maryland. A win this Saturday would cap one of the best regular seasons' in Tiger history.
With a win over Brown, Princeton would set a school record for most consecutive wins and would run its win total to 15 games, two shy of the single season win record with postseason games still left to play. The Tigers would also finish 7-0 in the Ivy League and win their first outright Ivy League championship since 1996.
Brown and Princeton have met 23 times before and the Tigers have dominated the series, winning 20 of 23 games against the Bears. Princeton has won the last 11 games versus Brown and head coach Chris Sailer is a perfect 7-0 at Brown.
The Bears are 5-7 overall and 1-4 in Ivy play this year. Brown will end its season on May 1 against Harvard in a make-up game, while Princeton will look toward the postseason with NCAA seedings announced on Sunday, May 5.
Saturday's game is a 4 p.m. start and can be heard live on www.GoPrincetonTigers.com.
