Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton University women's lacrosse team enters Wednesday's contest with Delaware with a 7-1 overall record and a No. 2 ranking in the national polls. The Tigers host the Blue Hens, who are 2-6 on the year, at Class of 1952 Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on April 3.
Princeton and Delaware have met 18 times in program history and the Tigers lead the all-time series 13-5. Princeton has won 12 straight against the Blue Hens, winning 9-6 at Delaware last season.
Despite its 2-6 record, Delaware has only two total fewer goals than its opponents this season. The Blue Hens are 1-4 on the road, however, all four of those losses came against ranked teams.
Sophomore Theresa Sherry, who has 20 goals and 26 points this season, leads the Tigers in scoring. Seniors Lauren Simone and Kim Smith are right behind Sherry with 19 and 18 goals respectively. Sherry was named last week's Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in an Ivy contest against Cornell.
Princeton will look to extend its winning streak that is now at seven games. The Tigers have won all seven of its games after dropping the season opener to No. 1 Georgetown. Princeton holds a +7.7 scoring margin in its eight games this season.
Wednesday night's game is the second of three straight home contests for the Tigers. Princeton will also host Yale on Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission to Wednesday's game is free.
