Princeton, N.J. - Princeton took home both the offensive and defensive Ivy League Player of the Week honors with sophomore Theresa Sherry capturing the offensive distinction and junior Rachael Becker winning the defensive award. Becker and Sherry led the Tigers to convincing victories over both Delaware and Yale, extending the Princeton win streak to nine games.
Becker finished the week with 10 caused turnovers and six ground balls, shutting out her man versus Delaware and holding Yale's leading goal scorer to one goal in 60 minutes of action. She registered four ground balls and four caused turnovers against the Blue Hens without committing a turnover. Becker then caused six turnovers and picked up two ground balls against Yale last Saturday.
Sherry scored four goals and had an assist in Princeton's 11-5 win over Yale. She finished the week with five goals and two assists and leads the team and the Ivy League in points and goals with 33 total points and 25 goals. This is Sherry's second straight player of the week selection.
Princeton has now won three consecutive offensive Player of the Week awards with Kim Smith winning the week of March 25 and Sherry taking the last two. The Tigers, ranked No. 2 in last week's national poll, are alone in first place in the Ivy League with a 3-0 conference record and a 9-1 overall mark.
Princeton is on the road this week. It plays at Temple on Wednesday, April 10 and at Harvard on Saturday, April 13.
