Princeton Takes Over No. 1 Spot In Women's Lacrosse Poll

Princeton, N.J. - Today's release of the IWLCA Poll has Princeton as the new No. 1 team in the country. The Tigers climb into the No. 1 spot with all 10 first-place votes and 200 total points. Princeton has won nine straight games and sports a 9-1 overall record.
The Tigers switch places with Georgetown, which lost its first game of the season to No. 4 North Carolina over the weekend. Six of Princeton's 10 games this season have been against teams now ranked in the Top-10. The Tigers are 5-1 in those games, losing only the Georgetown in overtime.
Princeton takes its No. 1 ranking into Philadelphia this Wednesday, April 10 for a game with No. 20 Temple. The Owls are 6-3 overall and have won three straight. Princeton has a 9-7 all-time record against Temple and has won three in a row over the Owls.
Sophomore Theresa Sherry leads the offensive charge for Princeton. She is the Ivy League's top scorer with 33 total points on 25 goals. Sherry was named the Ivy League's offensive player of the week after scoring four goals against Yale. Sherry now has 50 career goals in only 28 games played.
Junior Rachael Becker was also honored by the Ivy League, earning the defensive player of the week award after she forced 10 turnovers and picked up six ground balls in games against Delaware and Yale.
The Tigers have scored 145 goals this year and boast a league-best scoring margin of +6.9. Princeton's 145 goals is 50 more than anyone else in the Ivy League and is 44 more than Temple. Wednesday's game is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
