The Princeton field hockey team, led by senior tri-captain Ilvy Friebe, jumped out to a 5-0 en route to a 6-1 win over Columbia Wednesday night. The Tigers are 2-0 in Ivy play, 2-1 overall, and will look to stay perfect in the league Saturday against Dartmouth.
Princeton opened the scoring 7:39 into the game when senior tri-captain Rachael Becker scored her second goal of the season. Nineteen seconds later, Friebe added her first of four goals. Friebe's second tally, off an assist by Claire Miller, gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Ashley Sennett and Friebe added first-half scores to give Princeton a comfortable 5-0 advantage at intermission.
Dana Zullo cut the deficit to 5-1 with a score at the 50:18 mark, but Friebe recorded her fourth and final goal at 62:46 to complete the scoring. It was the fifth time in school history that a player scored four goals in one game, and the first since she did it against Cornell last season.
