The Princeton men's hockey team opens its 2003-04 season by hosting the University of Guelph in an exhibition game at Baker Rink on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. There is no charge for admission as the Tigers will look to get the season off on the right foot as they delve into their regular season schedule next weekend at St. Cloud.
Drop The Puck... The Princeton men's hockey team opens the 2003-04 season with an exhibition game against the University of Guelph at Baker Rink on Saturday night.
Scouting the Gryphons... Guelph is 1-5-0 this season, but has dropped its last five games after posting a win in its opener. Saturday's game will be the second of three consecutive games the Gryphons play against ECAC opponents. On Friday, they will be at Harvard and on Sunday, will face Yale.
Prior Meetings... The Tigers and Guelph have never met before. In 2002-03 the two teams had three common opponents: Dartmouth, Harvard and Western Ontario.

Exhibition Experience... Princeton often opens its season by playing a Canadian college team to help prepare for the regular season. The current crop of Tigers is 4-0-0 in exhibition games dating back to the 2000-01 season. That includes wins over Wilfred Laurier, St. Francis Xavier, the U.S. National Under-18 Team and Western Ontario.

Looking Ahead... The Tigers begin the regular season on Friday, Oct. 31 versus St. Cloud of the WCHA. The two game series will mark Princeton's first trip to St. Cloud. The teams only have one prior meeting, a Princeton 4-3 win at home in the 1987-88 season.
