Lourie-Love Is The Only House That Matters For Tigers This Halloween

PRINCETON, N.J. - The men's soccer team hopes for a sweet treat this Halloween when it hosts Ivy League rival Cornell this Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers are 5-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the conference, just one game behind the Big Red in the Ivy race.

Ancient Lore - Princeton leads the series, which began in 1915, with a 42-35-9 record against Cornell. The Big Red won last year, 1-0 in Ithaca, N.Y.
The Devil's Number - Both teams have six losses this season. Cornell is 5-6-1 overall and Princeton is 4-6-3.
Haunted House - Visitors should fear coming to Lourie-Love Field. Princeton has not lost a home game at this field in 2003, although the 3-0 loss to Hartwick at Princeton Stadium counted as a home game.
Horror Stories - * Cornell is on a three-game losing streak and Princeton has lost its last two. * The Big Red, after enjoying a five game unbeaten streak and an undefeated mark in the Ivy League, lost to Brown 2-0 and then to state rivals Syracuse 4-0 and Oneonta 1-0. * Princeton hasn't won a game since Oct. 8 when it defeated Adelphi, 2-1. In the five proceeding games, the Tigers lost four and tied one. * The Tigers lost a 2-0 shutout at Harvard last Saturday. They outshot the Crimson 12 to three but had only three shots on goal, all which were blocked or saved. Kyle McHugh, Gianfranco Tripicchio and Marty Shaw each had three shots. Breaking the Spell - The Tigers ended a four-game scoring drought on Tuesday night when Kyle McHugh set up Gianfranco Tripicchio for a goal against Rutgers.
The End of the Curse - Tripicchio, Princeton's starting midfielder in 50 of the 53 games he has played in the past four years, scored his first collegiate goal at Rutgers on Tuesday.
Trick or Treat - Princeton sophomore Bobby Guelich earned his first collegiate start at Rutgers, making seven saves but allowing three goals for the loss.
White as a Ghost - Erik White played the first 12 games in goal for Princeton, recording a 1.35 goals against average and a .696 save percentage, but disappeared to the bench when Guelich earned the start against Rutgers.
Eerie Lows - Cornell and Princeton are both low scoring teams, with the Big Red averaging 2.83 points per game (7th in the Ivy League) and Princeton averaging 2.23 points per game (8th in the Ivy League). Cornell has scored 12 goals and Princeton has scored 11.
Spooky Sixes - Four players have team-highs of six points. Scott Paluga and Steve Reuter of Cornell and Darren Spicer and Jame Wunsch of Princeton each lead their teams with six points. Paluga and Spicer have three goals while Reuter and Wunsch have two goals and two assists.
The Sorcerer of the Posts - David Mahoney has played all 1100:00 minutes in goal, recording a 1.39 goals against average and a .809 save percentage.
Freaky Facts - Princeton and Cornell each average 10 shots and less than one goal per game. Ten of Cornell's 12 shots came in the second half of its games, while Princeton received seven of its 11 goals in the first half.
The Spirit of the Season -The conference season is winding down with Princeton one game behind Cornell in the Ivy League race. The Big Red is tied for third place with a 2-1-1 record and the Tigers are tied for fifth at 1-2-1.
