PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's squash made its home debut for the 2003-04 season a solid one, sweeping Brown 9-0 Saturday at Jadwin Squash Courts. Four freshmen made their debuts at home, and each won 3-0.
"I was pleased with this early season win but we do have some thing we need to work on and improve upon," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "We do have a few injuries at this time and if we can get some people healthy and back in to their top form that will also help us in the coming months. We are shooting to be at our best as February approaches."
Princeton played well and made it tough for their opponents to win many points, much less games. No. 1 player Ruchika Kumar started out playing very aggressively, although opponent Lillian Rosenthal challenged her in the second game. Kumar found a way to win and cruised in the third game. Francie Comey played a tenacious Natelie Pierrepont at the No. 8 position. Pierrepont frustrated Comey with her court coverage and determination, but Comey rebounded in the fourth game to pressure her deep in the corners and waited for the right time to attack her to the front court.
Princeton will host Franklin & Marshall tomorrow.
