FAIRFAX, Va. - Dennis Alshuler recorded 19 kills, including the clincher in the final game, to lead the Princeton men's volleyball team to a 3-0 win at George Mason Tuesday night. Princeton, which is in a race for the fourth spot in the EIWA playoffs and, thus, a home match, handed Mason its second league loss of the season.
Princeton put together one of its most effective hitting performances of the season, earning a .322 attack percentage for the match. Its first two games were especially strong, as the Tigers hit .375 and .435 in 30-24 and 30-23 victories. The Tigers hit twice as many errors in the final game as they did in either of the first two, but Alshuler and teammate Blake Robinson killed enough balls to earn the 30-27 win.
Alshuler had 19 kills and two errors in 29 chances (.586 attack percentage), while Robinson added 11 kils. Brian Hamming had nine kills and one error.
Jason Liljestrom ran the Princeton attack with 41 assist, while Alshuler and Ryn Burns paced the defense with five digs apiece, Burns also added two aces. Ray Robins, an All-Ivy basketball selection from the past season, saw action in his second career volleyball match and added a block.
