Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's lacrosse team returns home for a three-game set beginning this Saturday versus Penn State. The Tigers dropped a pair of road ACC contests last week and will be looking to get back on the winning track against the Nittany Lions at Class of 1952 Stadium
Princeton and Penn State have faced each other 20 times in program history with both teams winning 10 games. The Tigers have won the last five regular season contests and have won eight of 12 games versus PSU at home.
This season's match-up features No. 6 Princeton (1-3) and No. 11 Penn State (3-2). The Tigers have dropped three straight, but those games were against No. 1 Loyola, No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Virginia. Penn State comes in with a win versus William & Mary earlier this week.
The Tigers bring a balanced attack after four games played with 13 players scoring goals this season. Senior Whitney Miller leads the team in goals with seven while both Theresa Sherry and Alex Fiore have six goals. Senior Rachael Becker leads the defense with 18 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. Penn State is led by Katie Jeschke, who has 13 goals, and Colleen O'Hara, who has 11 goals and the team lead in points with 16. PSU goalkeeper Lee Tortorelli has 50 saves and a 9.40 goals-against average this season.
Princeton has not lost four in a row since Chris Sailer's first season (1987) as head coach. The Tigers and Lions draw at 2 p.m. on the turf at Class of 1952 Stadium. Saturday's game can also be heard live on www.GoPrincetonTigers.com.
