Princeton, N.J. - Princeton's women's lacrosse team begins Ivy play when Columbia visits Class of 1952 Stadium this Wednesday night. The Tigers open their defense of the Ivy crown and look for their second straight win at 7:30 p.m. in a game that can be heard live on www.GoPrincetonTigers.com.
Princeton is fresh of a 10-7 win over Penn State and looks to get back to .500 against a Columbia team that is 4-2 this season. The Lions are 0-1 in Ivy play, falling to Cornell last Saturday, but have been playing well under first-year coach Kerri Whitaker.
The Tigers have dominated the series, winning all five previous meetings and outscoring Columbia by an average of 16 goals per game. Last season, Princeton went to New York and won 17-1.
All-America Theresa Sherry leads the offensive charge for Princeton this season with 10 goals and 11 points. Seniors Alex Fiore and Whitney Miller each have eight goals for the Tigers. The defense is led by All-America Rachael Becker, who has 20 caused turnovers in only five games played this year.
Last season, Princeton finished a perfect 7-0 in the Ivy League to take the conference crown. The Tigers have won 10 straight Ivy games and have won 10 straight Ivy openers.
