Brown Rallies Past Men's Hockey 2-1

Brown scored twice in the third period to come from behind and defeat the Princeton men's hockey team 2-1 Friday night in the first game of the first-round of the ECAC playoffs. Princeton's Chris Owen scored to give Princeton a 1-0 lead but it wouldn't hold up as Brown claimed the come-from-behind win.
The two teams played to a scoreless first period with Brown outshooting Princeton 8-7 as both teams felt each other out. Both Princeton goaltender Eric Leroux and Brown netminder Yann Danis each were tested with quality opportunities but they were both equal to the task to keep the game scoreless.
The stalemate continued through the second period of play as Princeton outshot Brown 14-4 for two period totals of 21-12. The Tigers had several strong scoring opportunities but could not solve Yann Danis as Princeton positioned themselves well but were unable to finish. Princeton finally broke through to take a 1-0 lead at 6:56 when the Tigers capitalized on a 2-on-1. Tommy Colclough broke down the wing and rifled a shot from the top of the right circle. Danis got a piece of the puck but it trickled behind him and Chris Owen won the race to the loose puck and stuffed it home for his 17th goal of the season. Mike Patton also recorded an assist.
Brown stormed back 23 seconds later to even the score at one. Chris Swon was left alone on front and he reached around a poke check by Leroux to even things up at 1-1. Brown's Pascal Denis put Brown ahead 2-1 just under five minutes later when his shot trickled past Leroux.
These same two team lock horns tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the second game of the series as Princeton will look to even things up at a game apiece.
