No. 3 Lightweight Crew Continues Road Dominance, Wins At Penn

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 3 Princeton men's lightweight crew built on its momentum from last week's win at Cornell and earned the Wood-Hammond Trophy by topping Penn today at the Schuylkill River. Princeton won all three races on the day, including the crucial varsity eight race.
Following wins in the freshman eight (5:52.1) and the second varsity eight (5:47.2), the varsity eight retained control of the Wood-Hammond Trophy with a winning time of 5:37.8. Penn finished the course in 5:41.3.
Princeton will compete in next week in arguably the biggest regatta of the regular season when it takes on Harvard and Yale in New Haven. Harvard is the No. 1 team in the country, Princeton is No. 3 and Yale is No. 4.
