May 30, 2026 | Men's Rowing - Lightweight
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Princeton University men's lightweight rowing team narrowly missed out on a medal in the 4+ Saturday at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship Regatta.
After strong performances in yesterday's heat and semifinal, the Tigers' 4+ boat earned a spot in the Grand Final and finished fourth.
"Coach Burke did amazing work with this young coxed four," said Head Coach Matt Smith. "They were fourth in the nation today against top competition. The boat raced hard and we are lucky that all five of the athletes are returning next year. This boat got the ball rolling for our varsity and second varsity that will race tomorrow."
The University of Pennsylvania (6:42.410) finished first, Harvard (6:41.560) second and Mercyhurst (6:42.410) third. Princeton was in strong medal contention for much of the race, sitting third and leading the Lakers at the 1000-meter (3:20.380-3:20.710) and 1500-meter (5:02.540-5:03.160) marks.
