Women's Tennis Closes Season With Ivy Sweep

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's tennis team defeated Cornell 7-0 Friday afternoon at The Lenz Tennis Center to complete the 2003 regular season. The Tigers complete the season at 10-8 overall and 3-4 in the Ivy League.
Although the team will not qualify for the NCAA tournament, Princeton could have individual representatives at the NCAA singles and doubles tournament, which will be announced on May 2.
Princeton began the day strong and never looked back as the Tigers took all nine matches on the day. In doubles Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Neha Uberoi earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 while Avantika Bhargava and Mateya McCoy posted a 9-7 win at the two spot. Alex Kobishyn and Stephanie Berg teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 3. On the singles side, the Tigers were dominant, as they did not lose a set all day. Uberoi turned in a strong performance in the No. 2 spot, as she did not allow her opponent Laura Tallent win a game in the straight-sets win. At No. 1, Krishnamurthy lost only two games in her 6-1,6-1 win. Alison Hashmall, Berg, Jessica Siebel and Susan Meng also turned in singles win for the Tigers.
