Princeton, N.J. - Senior tri-captain Rachael Becker was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after shutting down the Ivies top scorer at Cornell on Friday night. Becker marked both Delaware's and Cornell's top offensive threats and held them to zero goals last week.
Becker completed the week with five ground balls and three caused turnovers while not committing a single turnover herself. She played all 120 minutes and led a Tiger defense that held a Cornell team that leads the conference in goals per game with only two goals.
Princeton defeated both Delaware and Cornell and has now won five straight games. Becker leads the conference in caused turnovers with 30 and has 32 ground balls this season to lead the Tigers.
On Friday night in Ithaca, Becker kept Sarah Averson, who entered the game with 21 goals and 27 points, without a single point. Princeton won 9-2 and improved to 2-0 in the Ivy League.
The Tigers are back in action this Wednesday night with Temple coming to town. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. draw and can be heard live on www.GoPrincetonTigers.com
