PHILADELPHIA - Mike LoGuidice completed 13 of 14 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns and Penn scored 39 unanswered points after falling behind early in the game as the Quakers defeated Princeton, 61-28, in a Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) game played at Franklin Field Friday night.
The Tigers (0-6, 0-4 CSFL) took the lead 3:03 into the game when Lon Johnson caught a 26-yard pass from Bakke, but it was all Penn from there. The Quakers (4-2, 2-2 CSFL) tied the game just 1:44 after Johnson's touchdown when LoGuidice found Pat Monaghan in the end zone for an 18-yard score, then took a lead they would never relinquish on a J.T. Hutchinson four-yard run later in the first quarter. Penn scored three second-quarter touchdowns to take a 32-7 halftime lead. The final two of the half came on LoGuidice passes to Monaghan, who caught 10 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns and broke the program's all-time single-season receiving record.
A Dennis Bakke one-yard run late in the third quarter finally got the Tigers on the board again, but Princeton trailed 39-14 after three quarters.
Bakke had a strong passing game for the Tigers, throwing for 233 yards and two touchdowns, but was sacked five times. His second TD pass was a 58-yard strike to Frank Langston midway through the fourth quarter.
Penn outgained Princeton 489-446, though each team rushed for more than 200 yards. Princeton's Matt Worley and Bakke combined for 162 yards on the ground, while the Quakers' Hutchinson had 133 yards rushing on just 18 carries.
