Princeton, the unanimous No. 1 team in the IWLCA poll for the fifth straight week, looks to extend its winning streak to 19 games when it faces Temple at Geasey Field in Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
The Tigers haven't lost since last April 13 at Yale and have won 24 of 25 games overall since falling to 1-3 early last season. In nine victories this season, No. 1 Princeton has outscored its opponents by a 2-to-1 margin (120 to 60). Besides in a comeback victory at No. 2 Georgetown March 24, the Tigers have trailed in a game for just 10 minutes this season.
Princeton (9-0, 2-0 Ivy) stayed unbeaten with a 16-10 Ivy League victory over Cornell at Class of 1952 Stadium Saturday afternoon. Freshman Kathleen Miller rebounded from two scoreless games to score a career-high five goals, while Lindsey Biles' three second-half goals helped the Tigers pull away. Biles, who leads the Tigers with 28 goals, had eight goals last week, including a career-best five in a 15-8 victory over Delaware Tuesday night.
Temple improved to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 play with a 17-5 victory over Saint Joseph's this past weekend. Johna Capaldo led the Owls with five goals and two assists in that game. Tiffany Pulaski leads Temple with 17 goals for the season.
Should the Tigers defeat the Owls, Princeton can tie the program record for consecutive wins with a victory against Yale at Class of 1952 Stadium Saturday afternoon (3 p.m., CSTV, GoPrincetonTigers.com). The Tigers have won 17 of their last 18 Ivy League games at home.
After Wednesday's game, Princeton plays five of its final six regular-season games against Ivy League competition. The Tigers' lone remaining non-league game after Wednesday is a matchup with seventh-ranked Maryland April 28 at Class of 1952 Stadium.
