April 8, 2004
Jack Pichard had 17 kills, three aces and 12 digs to lead the Princeton men's volleyball team to a 3-1 win at N.Y.U. Wednesday night. Jason Liljestrom had 61 assists to lead the Tiger offense.
The Tigers took the opener 35-33, one of the longest games of the season for Princeton. The momentum stayed on the Princeton side with a 30-22 win in the second game. Despite a 30-27 loss in the third, the Tigers bounced back for a 30-23 win in the final game.
Brian Hamming had 15 kills, while co-middle hitter Sean Vitousek added 12 kills to go along with his team-best three blocks.
Princeton will conclude its regular season Saturday at Penn State. A win would assure Princeton of hosting the EIVA first-round match on April 23 or 24, but even if the Tigers lose, George Mason will need to sweep St. Francis, Penn State and Rutgers-Newark just to get even with Princeton for the spot.
