The Princeton men's tennis team began its season at this weekend's Farnsworth Invitational at the Lenz Tennis Center and Jadwin Gymnasium, and several Tiger players had strong performances to start the season.
Junior Darius Craton, Princeton's No. 1 player last season, reached the championship match of the "A" singles bracket before falling to Yale's Brandon Wai in the final. Craton, the No. 4 seed, defeated No. 6 seed Rajeev Emany of Columbia and No. 2 seed Ryan Murphy of Yale to gain the berth in the final.
Despite falling in the first round of the "A" bracket, Princeton's Hans Plukas recovered to win three matches to win the consolation bracket. He defeated Penn's Todd Lecher in three sets for the victory.
Erez Cohen of Manhattan took the "B" singles flight, while Columbia's Jared Drucker won the "C" bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 win over St. Joseph's Mike Portonova. Alon Cohen of Manhattan won the "D" bracket title in straight sets over Marty Moore of Columbia.
