Spicer Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer Past Wofford

Spartanburg, S.C. - Darren Spicer scored a hat trick to lead the Princeton men's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Wofford this afternoon at the Wofford/adidas Invitational at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C.
Spicer's first goal came just 11:31 into the match when he scored into the lower left corner off a cross from Adrian Melville.
The Tigers (4-2-1) extended their lead to 2-0 at the 20:24 mark when Jame Wunsch scored on a deflection off a Wofford defender's back. Ryan Rich assisted on the goal.
The Terriers (2-7) closed to within 2-1 when freshman Brendan Tolleson scored from 30 yards out at 26:59. Fellow rookie Reed Blair took the initial shot for Wofford. After it deflected off a Tiger defender, Tolleson scored on the one-timer.
After the Tigers led 2-1 at the intermission, Spicer scored at 50:45 and 61:16 to provide the final margin. His second goal of the match was a header off a cross from Doug Hare. Spicer, a native of Diamond Bar, Calif., completed the hat trick when he found the net on a breakaway.
Princeton outshot Wofford by a 29-8 margin.
Following the tournament, four Tigers received all-tournament honors. Wunsch, Princeton's goal scorer in the opening game was named the tournament defensive MVP, while Matt Kontos, Rich and Spicer were each named to the all-tournament team.
