Princeton, N.J. - Seven different Harvard players scored as the Crimson defeated the Princeton men's hockey team 7-0 Friday night at Baker Rink. Steve Mandes opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the game as the Crimson picked up the win. Princeton will look to rebound tomorrow when the Tigers host Brown.
Mandes opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the game when he corralled a loose puck at the top of the crease and beat Princeton sophomore goaltender B.J. Sklapsky. Played settled following the rebound goal but Harvard added two late goals to take a 3-0 lead after a period. Peter Hafner and Kevin Du scored the goals, both following feverous play in the Harvard offensive zone.
Harvard added a pair of goals in the second period, first Boah Welch scored on the power play at 6:49 and then Rob Flynn scored on a breakaway less than two minutes later.
The Crimson added another two goals in the third period as Tom Walsh scored at 6:59 and Dave Watters scored as time expired.
Harvard outshot the Tigers 28-24 as Dov Grumet-Morris and John Daigneau combined for the shutout. Sklapsky and freshman goaltender Jeff Mansfield combined for 21 saves in the Princeton net.
The Tigers continue their weekend series tomorrow night against Brown.
