NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Princeton women's squash team has one of the most young and talented teams in the country. Right now, the Tigers still have a way to go to catch No. 1 Yale, which topped No. 3 Princeton 8-1 Saturday.
"Overall the girls played well, but in most cases Yale just outplayed us," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "Everyone's performance was respectable and we hope to take this experieince home and have it help us to improve and be stronger for the upcoming matches."
The defending national champions were simply too strong, especially at the top of the lineup. Yale took every match from No. 1 to No. 5 by a 3-0 score, although Princeton's No. 1 player, Claire Rein-Weston, did take defending national champion to a 10-8 score in one of their games. The highlight of the match came from local product Carly Grabowski. The freshman won 3-0 at the No. 7 position against Rachita Vora.
"Carly Grabowski played a great match to win in three against a very experienced player, Rachita Vora," Ramsay said. "Carly controlled the 'T' and kept Vora from doing the thing she does best, attach the front court."
Princeton will compete against Williams and Amherst Sunday afternoon.
