Princeton, N.J. - The 12th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team scored three goals in the fourth period to break open a one-goal game and defeat 18th-ranked Bucknell 8-4 Tuesday night at DeNunzio Pool. John Stover led the Tigers with three goals, while Gant Morgner made 11 saves in the win.
Princeton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the game, but Bucknell responded with two goals of its own to know the score before the Tigers took a 3-2 lead before the end of the period. The Bison knotted the score at 3-3 to begin the second period, but Princeton answered back to hold a 4-3 lead at the half.
Each team played strong defense in the third period, trading goals, before the Tigers broke the game open with three scores in the fourth period. Stover led the way with three goals, while Chris Kelsch scored twice. Nicholas Seaver, Douglas Wigley and Jamal Motlagh completed the scoring. Morgner allowed four goals on 15 shots to earn the win.
Bucknell's goals were scored by Mark Masterson, Jason Rechel (2) and Kyle Roslyn.
Princeton is now 13-6 overall and 5-1 in the CWPA with the win. The Tigers are back in action this weekend with four league games. The first is Friday night at Johns Hopkins.
