Washington, D.C. - John Stover scored four goals as the 11th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team defeated George Washington 12-6 on Sunday afternoon. The win lifts Princeton to 15-8 overall and 7-3 in the CWPA Southern Division.
Stover scored four goals for Princeton as the Tigers broke open a close game with six goals in the third quarter. Mike McKenna, Nicholas Seaver and Reid Joseph all scored twice in the win. Gant Morgner made five saves in the opening half, while Scott Syverson blocked four shots in the second half.
The win was the final league game of the season for the Tigers, who finished league play with a 7-3 record. The league standings will determine the seeding for the Southern Championships, which will be held Oct. 28-30, at Navy. Princeton will likely finish second or third in the league standings, meaning a third or fifth seed for Southerns.
The Tigers host Queens in non-league action on Thursday night at 7 p.m., at DeNunzio Pool.
