It's late October already, but the Princeton men's soccer team still has more than half of its Ivy League schedule remaining. The Tigers welcome Cornell to Lourie-Love Field at 4 p.m. Saturday for the first game of a men's-women's doubleheader against the Big Red.
Princeton (3-6-3, 0-2-1 Ivy) will not only be looking for its first Ivy win but also for its first win since an overtime victory at Adelphi Sept. 24. The Tigers, coming off ties against both Harvard and Northwestern this past weekend, are 0-3-3 since that win.
Cornell (3-7-2, 2-2 Ivy) took league leader Brown to overtime last weekend before falling by a 2-1 score and has lost three straight games entering Saturday afternoon's meeting with the Tigers.
Princeton has defeated the Big Red nine consecutive times at Lourie-Love Field, last losing to Cornell in Princeton in 1985. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in Ithaca last season.
The Tigers play four of their final five games at home starting with Saturday's game after playing eight of their first 12 games away from Lourie-Love Field. The lone trip in that span will be a short trip to Penn next Saturday.
Tiger senior Darren Spicer scored against Harvard last Saturday and now has 24 career goals. He needs three goals to tie Jake Dowden '96 and Bill Doniger '87 for eighth on the team's all-time list.
Junior Jame Wunsch was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday after scoring his first goal of the season in Princeton's 1-1 tie against Northwestern Sunday.
Princeton will play a non-league game against Bucknell Wednesday night at Lourie-Love Field.
