Men's Hockey Heads to New York's North Country

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton men's hockey team heads to New York's North Country on its longest bus trip of the season to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence in ECAC Hockey League action this weekend. Princeton (2-4, 1-3 ECACHL), which has dropped its last three games, will look to snap that streak on Friday night at Clarkson.
Face-off both nights is scheduled for 7 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on GoPrincetonTigers.com beginning at approximately 6:55 p.m. Links to the boradcasts plus live stats from Friday night's game at Clarkson can be found on the Princeton men's hockey schedule page. There are not livestats available for Saturday's game at No. 15 St. Lawrence.

This Week's Storylines
New York State of Mind
Princeton continues a stretch of four games in the state of New York this weekend when it visits the North Country to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Including the two games this weekend, the Tigers have played more games in New York State than they have in New Jersey.
Last Weekend
Princeton was swept in its weekend trip to Union and Rensselaer. Princeton gave up early leads on both nights, battled back to draw even, but eventually fell short. Friday Princeton scored twice in the second to make it 2-2 at Union before four Dutchmen goals made it 6-2. On Saturday Brett Wilson made the score 1-1 early in the third, but Rensselaer scored three times for a 4-1 final.
On the Road Again
Princeton is on the road for the third time in four weekends. The Tigers began the season with nine of 12 games on the road and will be away from Baker Rink for five of the next six games.
Back To New York
Princeton's first three league weekend trips of the year are all trips to New York. Last weekend it was the Albany area, this weekend it is the North Country, and in two weekend's it will be Central New York to face Cornell and Colgate.
The Series With Clarkson
Princeton is 20-64-5 all-time against Clarkson and is 2-30 in games played in Potsdam. Princeton's last win in the series came in November of 1998 and Princeton is 0-14-2 against Clarkson since. Last season Clarkson won 3-1 in Potsdam and 3-2 at home.
Scouting the Golden Knights
Clarkson is 6-3-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in the ECACHL. Clarkson has just one loss in its last six outings and enters the weekend off a 4-2 win at Yale. Clarkson has defeated Union, tied Rensselaer and lost to Brown in its other league games.
The Series With St. Lawrence
Princeton is 15-50-7 all-time against St. Lawrence and is 6-24-1 in Canton. St. Lawrence brings an eight-game unbeaten-streak in the series into Saturday night's game dating back to a Princeton win in February of 2002. The Saints took three of four from Princeton last season icluding a sweep in the first round of the league playoffs. The fourth result was a 4-4 tie in Canton.
Scouting the Saints
St. Lawrence is 7-3 overall and part of a four-way tie atop the eague standings with a 3-1 record. St. Lawrence enters the weekend off a loss last Saturday at Brown, but had won its previous four games. defeating Yale, Rensselaer, Union and RIT. St. Lawrence also has a win over Wisconsin.
Last Year in the North Country
Last season Princeton made two trips to the North Country and went a combined 0-3-1 on its visits. During the regular season the Tigers skated to a 4-4 tie at St. Lawrence before falling 3-1 at Clarkson. In the playoffs, Princeton was swept by St. Lawrence, falling 7-0 and 4-2.
First Times
There were several firsts that occured during Princeton's weekend at Union and Rensselaer. On Friday night at Union, freshman Lee Jubinville notched his first career goal. Later in the game, freshman Brett Wilson assisted on a goal for his first career point. On Saturday at Rensselaer, Jubinville notched his first assist and it came on Wilson's first career goal. Freshman Brandan Kushniruk assisted on Wilson's goal as well for his first career assist.
Oh Brother
On Princeton's second goal at Union, junior Kevin Westgarth scored it, and his brother, junior Brett, assisted on the goal. It was the first time in their career at Princeton that they have been in on the scoring of the same goal.
Freshman Line
Princeton's line of freshman - Will Harvey, Lee Jubinville and Brandan Kushniruk - accounted for a goal in both games last weekend.
Topping the Charts
Kevin Westgarth's four points leads Princeton in scoring. Behind him there are three players with three points and six with two points each.
Defensive Support
Princeton defensemen earned assists on two of the Tigers' three goals last weekend. Junior Max Cousins and Brett Westgarth tallied the assists.
Scoring in the First
Union's first first-period goal on Friday was the first that the Tigers have allowed this season. Princeton allowed Union two goals in the first period on Friday and one to Rensselaer on Saturday.
Defense First
Princeton has held its opponents to three goals or less, not counting empty-net goals, in five of six games. Princeton has held an opponent to two or less goals in four games.
81 Goals
Princeton scored 81 goals in 31 games last season. That number was 19 more than the total of 62 that Princeton scored in 31 games last season. Princeton has 12 goals through four games this season.
On the Tube
At least four of the Tigers' remaining games in the 2005-06 season will be broadcast on television. The next TV game will be against Quinnipiac on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and will air live on NESN, while both of Princeton's games at the Denver Cup on Dec. 30 and 31 will be on FSN Rocky Mountain. Lastly, Princeton's game at Dartmouth on Feb. 11 will be live on ESPNU. NESN, FSN-RM and ESPNU are all available on Directv. Additional Patriot games may be added as the season continues.
Polling Station
Princeton was picked to finish 10th by both the coaches and the media in the ECACHL preseason polls. St. Lawrence was chosen fourth by the coaches and fifth by the media while Clarkson was seventh in each.
On the Horizon
Princeton will meet its new travel partner for a Tuesday-Saturday home-and-home before and after Thanksgiving. Princeton hosts Quinnipiac at Baker Rink on Tuesday night, then visits the Bobcats for a Saturday afternoon contest. That game will be played at Yale.
