The Princeton women's lacrosse team, which opens its 2005 regular season March 5 against Johns Hopkins, will host Temple, Rutgers and Ohio State at the 2005 Princeton Scrimmage Tournament this Sun., Feb. 20, at Class of 1952 Stadium.
Princeton will face Ohio State in a regulation game, followed by Rutgers and Temple in another regulation contest. Each team will then play 30-minute mini-games against the other two opponents in the afternoon.
"After three solid weeks of preseason practice, we can't wait to take the field on Sunday," says Princeton head coach Chris Sailer. "We're eager to see how well wehandle the challenge of competition, execute the strategies we've been working on in preseason and make the necessary adjustments on the field. We invite all our fans to come out and catch an early glimpse of the 2005 Tigers on our home field."
Princeton was the 2004 national runnerup, falling to Virginia in the national championship game May 19 at Princeton Stadium. The Tigers finished undefeated during the 2004 regular season and finished the year 19-1.
Temple also earned a 2004 NCAA tournament bid as the champions of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Owls lost at Maryland in the NCAA first round. Former James Madison head coach Jen Ulehla takes over as the Owls' head coach in 2005.
Rutgers finished 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the Big East in 2004. Ohio State was 5-11 overall last season and finished 1-6 in American Lacrosse Conference play.
