WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - One of the most brilliant careers in the storied history of Princeton women's swimming & diving concluded this past weekend when senior Stephanie Hsiao competed in both the 50 and 100 free at the NCAA Championships. While she was unable to gain All-America status, the Swimmer of the Meet at the 2005 Ivy League Championships has already cemented her status as an all-time great at Princeton.
Hsiao opened her competition by placing in a tie for 43rd in the 50 free. She swam it 23.33, the same time put forth by Wisconsin's Sarah Hernandez. Hsiao did not advance to either of the finals, as the cutline was 22.82.
Hsiao's final event was the 100 free on Saturday. The Princeton record-holder in the event, Hsiao placed 42nd overall with a time of 50.62. She missed qualifying for the finals (49.43), but it was a strong final swim for the senior from Irvine, Calif.
Georgia won the team title with 609.5 points.
