Box Score
PRINCETON - Keith Kowal had 12 kills and 13 blocks to lead the No. 3 Penn State men's volleyball team to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Princeton Sunday at Dillon Gym. The loss sends Princeton to 3-11 overall and 2-8 in the EIVA Tait, where their playoff lives are in doubt.
Penn State never trailed any time after the earliest portion of each games, and it made sizable runs early in both games one and three to win those going away. Princeton kept the second game close, but never could get within two points during the final stretch. The 30-17, 30-23, 30-17 win for Penn State keeps the Nittany Lions' record in the EIVA Tait perfect.
Princeton's 2-8 mark in the league is more of an issue, as the Tigers are battling for the final playoff spot in the league. Princeton has two league matches left, one at NYU and one at Penn State. The last playoff spot could be decided during the April 5 showdown at NYU, which lost to Princeton 3-0 at Dillon Gym on Feb. 15.
Sean Vitousek had nine kills and hit .353 for the Tigers against Penn State, while Jack Pichard had 30 assists, three digs and three blocks.
Princeton will play two non-league matches this week, starting Wednesday night at home against Stevens Tech.
